Day 1 - The Flight

We started from our house all ready to go and met our neighbors outside. We told them about the trip and kept going. We arrived at the bus stop waiting to board. Me and my mm scanned our ORCA cards and sat down at a bench. When the bus arrived we got on and found some seats near the back. The bus took us to Bellevue Transit Center. There we walked over to the next bus stop and waited again. Lots of waiting. We boarded the bus when it had arrived and sat down and slept. It was a 45 minute ride. When we reached the airport we walked and went to one of the self check-in kiosks. When we entered our confirmation code it had an error. It said " This service kiosk is currently unavailable. Please consult with an agent at the selected airlines." We went to the Spirit Airlines check-in kiosk and tried again. No luck. We took our bags to an agent and tried checking in. She says something that changed all of our high hopes and joy. You missed the flight, it was today in the morning at 12:56 AM. Not tomorrow morning at 12:56 AM. My mom and I were shocked. We had thought 12:56 AM 5/26 meant tonight. We immediately called my dad and informed him. He had already reached Houston. The agent told us we would not get a refund for our flight but we can still cancel the return flight. We told him to give us a minute. We couldn't just go back home now. After all the packing, excitement, work, money. My dad had already reached there too. We tried asking if they could put us on the next flight or the one after that. They said both were full. We had no other option but to book another flight. We both took out our phones and went on Google Flights. We scanned the page for cheap flights to Houston soon. We found one for $728 with Alaska Airlines at 12:15 tomorrow. Not that cheap but still it's the cheapest one. We hurried over to their service and went for customer service. We met this lady and told her we needed to book that flight right now. She told us it's better to book online because of extra fees if you book at the airpsort. We started booking on our phones and told my dad to do the same. We had an error saying please contact an agent. So we got back in the line and waited. This time another lady assisted us. We asked her about the error and she says that the flight is full and somebody already took the seats we were looking at. It still let us book it online though and we wanted to ask the agent but she had already proceeded with an other person. So we got back in the line and waited until it was our turn again. We met with the first agent again and told her. She also said it was already booked by another person. By now we were panicking. My dad found a deal for $527 with American Airlines to Dallas which is a 3 hr drive from Houston so we hurried over there next. We stood in the line again and talked with a lady over there. She also told us there might be extra airport fees so we tried booking it online again. But it didn't allow us to book the tickets too. We asked the agent and told her we will pay the extra fees. She started booking the flight and suddenly the price jumped to $729 ! She told somebody probably booked some seats for the flight and that more seats are still available though. My mom thought about it for a while and decided to book it anyway. The agent continued booking and suddenly stopped. She said there were no more seats and we had held the last two seats ! She started booking with that and we got the tickets for $527 again. After we received the tickets we went to the security check and gave the man at a stand my passport and mom's driver license. He let us pass and we put all metal objects in boxes and put it on the converter belt. He said we didn't need to take of our shoes. We went through the scanner and took all of our stuff back. We went to  our gate and found some seats. We had to be assigned seats so I went and asked the receptionist person. She said she hasn't started yet so I went back and waited. We ate some snacks and finally it was time to board. We went to the side and she told us our seats. We were both on opposite sides of the aisle. We went through the bridge and found or seats on the plane. We waited until the people beside us arrived so we could ask if we can switch seats. When they arrived and we asked them they said sure probably because they were traveling in a group. We settled down in the seat and reclined back a little. The plane departed and the waitress asked us if we wanted a drink. My mom ordered tomato juice and I ordered orange juice. They also gave us extra pretzels and we ate those too. We tried to sleep for a while but then I had to go to the bathroom. I got up and entered the lavatory. After I came back me and my mom slept for at least an hour. When we arrived we picked up our bags and went out. We looked for an exit and finally found one. When we went out we could not go back in. We called my dad and he was on the way. We just sat down on a bench and waited. Then I searched up a map of the terminals and thought Terminal A would be closer than the terminal we were in. So we got on a terminal express and went to Terminal A and waited there. After a while I started tracking my dad on Find My Friends. Finally he pulled up in front of us. We put our bags in the back and boarded the car.
